Nate Deluca returns home to put his New York wine studies into practice in St. Madeleine, California, but to be independent buys the small Sorrento estate from a nearly-divorced man, only to learn his ex-to-be also sold the vineyard to Nate's school ex, Francesca "Frankie" Baldwin, from his family's long-standing rivals, who has enough of her father Charles ignoring her wine-making talent, as he just hired a business-wiser co-manager.
